Over 28 years, Triple J Specialist LLC has completed HDD and excavation scopes for major utility operators, municipalities, and transportation agencies across North Carolina and the broader Southeast. Below are selected case studies drawn from our field work.
Completed multiple HDD bores for a major regional gas utility expanding natural gas distribution infrastructure across the Triangle area. The scope required precision crossings beneath active county roads and paved surfaces, with bore sizes ranging from 4" to 8" HDPE. Surface disruption was limited to small entry and exit pits at each crossing, with no open cuts on active roadways.
Installed underground electrical conduit for a regional electric utility's distribution infrastructure upgrade in suburban and light-commercial corridors. Multiple bore runs placed PVC conduit bundles beneath roads and landscaped rights-of-way. Triple J coordinated directly with the utility's field crews to meet strict project scheduling windows and inspection requirements.
Executed a large-diameter water main crossing for a municipal water authority, requiring a precise HDD bore beneath an active roadway with strict horizontal and vertical tolerances. Steel casing was installed at critical crossing points to protect the water main. The municipal utility inspector was on-site throughout, and no road closure was required at any stage of the project.
Provided HDD conduit installation for a North Carolina DOT traffic signal infrastructure project within Division 5. Bore locations required precise navigation at busy signalized intersections without disrupting active traffic patterns. All work was performed within NCDOT right-of-way under DOT inspection, with multiple conduit runs completed in a single mobilization.
